Many words have lost their meanings in our society. The real concept of education is that it brings you closer to knowledge. It will make one accustomed to knowledge. Education will satisfy his knowledge need. It will also satisfy his need of knowing. This is education. But our contemporary education is not doing any such thing. Whoever has more degrees does not mean he has more knowledge or he loves knowledge.
There is no such thing. And secondly, what is the effect of knowledge? Knowledge increases your ability to believe in something. and makes it stronger. Knowledge is what makes you able to believe and be certain. As a result of knowledge you acquire additional prerequisites of belief. Knowledge makes your belief stronger.
The content which you consider the knowledge, in the religious paradigm knowledge is what makes you stronger in your belief. The content which leads you to deny the existence of God and takes you to the extreme of suspicion and doubt and leads you to atheism is not knowledge. It is ignorance.
Knowledge should make you look at everything in the universe as a sign of the Creator. Knowing the Creator and finding the truth. The knowledge which serves as a stepping stone towards knowing the Creator is real knowledge. And if it is not serving this purpose then it is not knowledge. So imagine these three things. What is education? It should bring me closer to knowledge.
It should give me a need for knowledge. And what is knowledge? Knowledge should cultivate in me a passion and the ability to nurture a strong belief. This is knowledge. But this never happened in our society. The present situation is not like this. Then what is faith? A mandatory result of Iman is that morally you are at a higher level. This is a must result of iman. Your passion for relations will improve.
Morally you will be at a higher level. We don't have that type of iman. Improvement in your morals is a mandatory and the immediate result of having Iman. If you attend a meeting with some Godly person then for the next twenty-four hours, it becomes easier for you to forgive. It becomes difficult to be greedy. Jealousy becomes difficult and forgiveness becomes easier.
It becomes easier to apologize. So if your iman
becomes stronger, your morals will definitely improve. So I mentioned four points. Education should bring you closer to knowledge. Knowledge should make your iman stronger. Iman should lift you morally to a higher level. If this is not the case, for example right now we are receiving an education which is not creating in us yearning and hunger for knowledge and not making us knowledge friendly. It is just producing degrees. Education is not imparting knowledge, just degrees.
And the thing we are running after, assuming it to be knowledge is not helping to nurture a strong belief in us. It is not a source of strengthing our belief and iman. And the thing which the whole world is running after assuming it be knowledge is not serving the purpose of elevating our belief and iman to the next higher level. and the sort of iman we are developing, is not making any difference to our character.
Is it not so?It has become more difficult to forgive. building relationships has become difficult whereas severing ties and having disputes and treating others as inferiors and keeping away from others have all become easier. This sort of faith and Iman we are nurturing. This means we have to put things right. Our faith and Iman is the protector of our psychic stability and mental health. In fact the psychological problems develop due to incorrect situation of iman or due to imperfect or incomplete and flawed iman Iman in itself has the ability to cure.
Iman is a cure and has the potential of curing our psychological disorders but the problem is, whatever we consider as Iman or the type of Iman we have developed is unable to cure our psychological illnesses. Our psychological complications or our psychological disorders or whatever crises or traumas we have our iman is unable to pull us out of these ailments. Our iman is unable to pull us out of despair. our iman is unable to eliminate our desires. Our iman is unable to make us believe in ourselves.
Our iman is not able to eradicate arrogance and jealousy from us. It is not able to eliminate despair and hopelessness. If I ask you if you have seen any religious person who suffers from desperation? You will say that you have seen many. Or have you seen someone who is religious as well as irritable and gets angry easily and suffers from depression? You will find many. You will find people with temperament issues, who are easily enraged, who have relationship crises. Who feel boredom, lack of interest, and hopelessness. These are all psychological problems.
All these names which I mentioned are ailments.
A type of psychological sickness is boredom and apathy. You become fed up with the world and cannot understand what is going on. You can see how many such people you can find. Depression, hopelessness, and apathy is very common.
All of these are psychological problems. These are psychological ailments of different types and different categories and you will see many cases. As a principle our faith or Iman could be enough in solving all our psychological problems and ailments. But the type of iman we have is not doing this. We go to the psychiatrist for our psychological problems and go to another place for our iman and to another place for something else and our problem remains unsolved.
